The other day I was watching an interview with the head of Speed Channel and he went on and on about how popular Nascar had become. I guess it would make sense considering how often you see people wearing those overly colorful Nascar jackets, very tacky if you ask me. They would probably fly in the early 90s along with parachute pants... Anyhow, Speed channel is my only source of worldwide motorsports such as WRC and Formula 1, and the time allocated to those sports is minimal. Nascar is now aired approximately 70% of the time. I don't know what this countrys obsession is with a racing series that only involves a giant oval. Im not discrediting the skill of the NASCAR drivers, but I do firmly believe that they cant hold a candle to a Carlos Sainz or a Michael Schumaher.
