According to an article published on MSNBC on behalf of Financial Times (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7358533/), sales of convertibles have reached record levels. Toward the end of the dot-com era, their popularity began to decline, but consumers seems to be back on the "convertible bandwagon."
By next year, General Motors will have seven convertibles in its lineup. New convertible models introduced recently include the Chrysler PT Cruiser, the Chevy SSR, the BMW 645Ci and the Mini Cooper Convertibles.
U.S. convertible sales grew 6.3%, passing the current record from 2001.
