Hi Gill,
I did a few while I was in the retail side of the business. Most were successful in terms of achieving sales and gross. BUT, there was a huge difference in the number of problems from one sales company to the next.
The biggest problems I had were related to cleaning up the lies after the event was over...some small lies..some down right criminal. The sales team would be off to the next town to tell more lies and I had to handle all the complaints from customers. I had very few problems with finance because I would always man the department and hang all the paper with my F+I person for these events... to much potential damage to the dealer if I didn't.
(Picture this...the one guy you have on the floor who causes you the most problems. You keep him around because he sells a lot of cars at good gross. NOW, multiply that guy times 10 and let him know he will only be there for 4 days. That's a real pandora's box you just opened.)
But, if you find a good team, you can get great results and strong gross.
One last note. I would use sales event teams in a store where my sales staff was not solid..lots of turnover or not much experience. If I had a strong floor, I would only hire a couple of aggressive guys during a sale to put some heat on my veterans. Works like, a charm.
I do some mail for a few teams now. If you want to talk off the board please drop me a note by email and I will get right back to you.

ThANKS lARRY,
I have spoken to several companies and so far Overdrive seems to be the best for the buck. What really suprised me is that they sent me refrences and they at least had the guts to send some that didnt have great results but everyone loved the staff and had no problems. Who can you or anyone else recommend.

Well I never got another response from anyone so I went with Overdrive Auto Group. For 5 days we ended up with 71 units @4107 per copy. We spent about 30K on the sale but hell the return was worth it. What really suprised me is that we only had 2 roll back from the sale and it was because one person lost there job the day before the bank called and the other could not end up proving the extra income they needed. No drugs, no hung over sales people and no attitiudes. Good team enviroemnt and we had a really good time. Plus they put up a spiff money out of there own pockets (2500 worth). If you need them call Tim 704-699-2321
