If this hasn't been beaten to death yet, I'd like to get some feedback about the price of gasoline.

Here in Southern CA, I'm seeing prices right around 2.65 - 2.75 for 87 octane. I'd bet it'll be over 3.00/gallon before summer hits.

Thoughts?

Three weeks ago I made a trip to Shreveport. Gas was in the $2.19 range for the whole trip.

Two weeks ago I made a trip to Houston. Gas was $2.25 or so when I left and was around $2.29 down there. The morning I returned I found gas at $2.45 a gallon at my favorite station. It topped out at $2.59 by the end of the week.

Last week I made another trip to Houston with my station's now $2.54 a gallon fuel. When I came back it was down to $2.45 again. Earlier this week I saw $2.41. Today that same station is back up to $2.49.

It's been a little over a week since I made that post, and the price hasn't changed a whole lot. It's interesting for me to hear that gas in TX is almost as much as out here in Los Angeles. I would have guessed that it would be cheaper than that.

What octanes are you seeing? We have 87/89/91. Used to have 92, but it dropped to 91 a year or two ago. Just another way to squeeze a couple of extra cents.

Regular is always 87, mid-grade is always 89, and premium is 91, 92, or 93. The name brand stations usually have the 93 stuff. I always use 87 anyway, even cars that "require" premium really don't benefit much from it except a little horsepower on the top end. The engine computer will compensate for regular fuel.

Yes, how I wish if we could just enkonized also your regular grade gasoline like what we are doing it here in our country - Philippines. But, however, maybe you can also do it there, by simply boosting the octane rating of the regular fuel more so, the high price of petro-base fuel would be pulled down with the price of the "botanical" catalytic enkonizer. Example: the price of our regular gasoline (MON 87/89) is Php45.00 per liter. The catalytic enkonizer would only cost us PhP28.00/liter Adopting the rule-of-the-thumb solution admixing 1:2 parts the cost of our fuel would be: 2 ltrs. gasoline - PhP90.00 plus 1Liter Catalytic enkonizer PhP28.00 = PhP118.00 over 3 liters = PhP39.33/liter now, is the cost of fuel. Discounting the advantages on the elimination of carbon monoxide, extra milage, prevents damage of the engine parts, etc., etc., how I wish again you can do it there --- the enkonizer is very much available in this mundane universe.

With regards to diesel, it seems there's no "Problemo", Coconut oil is only PhP34.00/liter plus 2% catalytic enkonizer (PhP0.96), the cost of, by the way, this is already a 100% substitute to petro-base diesel with zero sulfur content, the price is only PhP34.96/liter.

Just to prove: Peak Oil News.com reported re: "Looming Petroleum Crisis Solution Found in Cebu, Philippines" http://peakoil.com/gate.html?name=News&file=article&thold=-1&mode=flat&order=0&sid=15553#8628

Our best wish & regrads my friend!

I wish I could go back to the days of $2.65 - $2.75 now. I'm seeing prices around $3.20 in the Los Angeles area.

And it sounds like we've hit an all-time nationwide high - gas above $3.00.

No end in sight?

$3.09 - $3.11 here in Cincinnati today. Fuel prices climbed .10 in 3 days! Earlier this month, in D.C., $3.15.
We do see an impact with shoppers. What's the trend elsewhere?
