AutoExecMag recently published an article offering a dozen tips for dealerships to put a "lock" on car theft. Very often, theft occurs during the week in broad daylight. If a dealership has a fairly large group of employees, it becomes easier for a thief to blend in.

Some exerpts:

Use a good key control system - it is not uncommon for a dealership to leave the keys inside of cars, or sitting very nearby.

Lock the padlock on the entry gate during the day - this prevents a potential thief from swapping the lock with one of their own.

Keep all uniforms secured - this prevents uniform theft.

I can honestly say we never had a problem with stolen cars.
All the access to the lots are blocked up at night, everything locked, keys locked up, ect. . .

We did however, have had rims (usually chrome) stolen off of cars. It was an order because only specific things were taken. Front bumpers of cars, headlamps and so on.
The theives were pretty efficent too, by using only two cinder blocks one guy tilted the cars up while the other would take the wheels off the end in the air. . . idiots left the lug nuts which could fetch about 4 dollars each though.

Its also good to see my professor, Mr. Lescota in there.
