Wagoner will either have to amputate eveything of any value at GM or find a merger that will save them. IMO he is on crack if he thinks that he can get the company back on its own without selling his soul.

Bob Eaton at Chrysler did it to his company and they weren't nearly as insolvant as GM is today. He did sell his soul to Daimler and screwed the shareholder without using Vaseline (especially Kirk Kerkorian).

Read the book "Taken for a Ride... How Daimler Drove Off With Chrysler" by Bill Vlasic and Brad Stertz. It is amazing in it revelations of what =goes on at the executive levels of these transactions... case in point Lutz was planning to merge Chrysler with BMW at the time and he was canned because of being a threat to the dickhead Eaton. Lutz was also a threat because he was the ONLY senior executive at Chrysler that spoke fluent German.
