New Member from NJ market

Im new to the forum, duhh..

I currently work as a finance manager for a very large Honda single point store. Long story short, I started detailing cars as a summer job in college, after college i worked service for a number of years (Honda) and made the jump from service to F&I about 7.5 yrs ago.. I love it. I hate the late highway hours, but i just love the job.

I perform all duties in the dealership from Desking deals, closing front end deals, hanging prime and sub prime paper, boxing deals, packaging deals.. the list goes on.

I want to know what the hey is going on this month (October). The Tri-State area is DEAD DEAD DEAD. All the banks tell me business is off and every friend of mine in every type of store all over the state is off almost 50%. We've never seen anything like it and its not cool at all.

Welcome to the forum, John! I would guess that the price of gas and increased costs of living (inflation is high, etc) are causing people to rethink the new car purchase. I'd bet more people are squeezing more miles out of the cars they have. It is interesting that you're at a Honda dealership though (import), not GM or Ford, which would make more sense right now. Either way - great to have you here, and best of luck with the sales!

Well currently I'm working as a Commodity trader on Wall street. Previously I was in the IT world. However, I've been racing and instructing at road courses here on the East Coast and also run a small upgrade/tuning shop here in NJ. I'm looking to get a postion either in terms of Testing/research/Automotive Journalism or possible on a professional race team in a capacity on the organizational/logistics end of racing.

Anyone who has any leads or ideas on how to get into the biz would be great.
