A local dealer is advertising a 2006 TrailBlazer at $111 per month. After making a few calls and doing the math, GM will lose $21,601  on the sale.

Note, the MSRP has gone up by $735 from 2005 and the wholesale has been raised to $26,470. Shipping and other expenses are calculated at $2,000, down from $4,387 and the interest on GM bonds remains the same as they have not issued any new ones even though the next round should be close to 12% instead of the 9% used in these calculations. Their attempt to issue $15 Billion in smart notes over the last two years has fallen on deaf ears.

GM is also going hard nose with suppliers and any supplier who would let GM dictate those horrible terms to them deserves Chapter 11. I am still waiting for someone at GM to come to Lansing and see the five examples of horrible waste here, duplicated throughout every GM facility but no one cares to listen. As I have said, the only reason GM is not continuously shooting itself in the foot is because they just can't do anything right. They have also gone a bit deeper into junk bond status. Can Chapter 11 be far behind.

Wow... it would cost several times that much in GAS every month! Any idea why GM can't just "copy" the successful guys and make cars that people WANT to buy because they actually LIKE the car...instead of getting people to buy the cars because they're a steal?

These are the 2006's (not 05's)... wow.

You can't lose $21K a pop for too long and expect to come out ahead.

I can almost guarantee that $111 a month is for some sort of lease or balloon.

I won't be doing financing on my lot. Can't for at least the first year, but the cars I'm selling are going to be $3000 and under so no point in financing that for that price and I don't believe in charging more for financing like buy-here pay-here lots do. And I wouldn't want to charge much for interest even if I do end up financing.
