My name is D Bowen and I bought a car from JD Byrider around 8-20-2005. From the start it was confusion. We thought we were buying a 2001 Dodge Stratus after 8 hours of being there. Then about two weeks later we had a call from them to inform us that they had a mix up in the paper worker and after looking our paper tag in the window had the wrong VIN number and it said we were driving a Chevrolet. So we had already insured this 2001 Dodge Stratus and insured the wrong VIN number so then we found out that our payments were then going to go up and we bought a 2000. So I had to take more time out to go resign the paper work and go fix the problem at the insurance company. When at the insurance company they said o.k. pay this new policy and we will cancel the other and credit you the down payment from your other, so I said o.k. Well when they said that they would credit me they meant they would credit my new policy and not my debit card so now I am out and extra $230.00 and the first payment (not car payment but tax payment) is due and I spent it on my second time getting insurance. So I called CNAC and they worked it out to take that first payment and pay $50.00 extra on each payment until the $250.00 payment was paid.
When I had bought the car in the room where they video record you the man clearly said “Mrs. Bowen these payments will be set up on your pay schedule” which is semi monthly. O.K. fine I heard him say that and after hours of being there with a tired and hungry 3 year old I said o.k. because I know when my pay day is.
September 1st came and I got a call from CNAC and a woman said Mrs. Bowen I was calling about your payment for the Dodge Stratus, I said yes I will be there after work, we were paid yesterday and the banks were closed by the time I was off so I was unable to get in. She said no that will not work where is the car now? I said here at work with me why? She told me that when I come in that I need to leave the car. WOW. That is the only car we have and we are a family of 5. So I said I just got paid I could not cash my check I can bring the payment in right now. She said no, my supervisor feels that it would be in the best interest for you and CNAC to end this loan. WOW AGAIN!! So I asked to speak with her supervisor and Samantha got on the phone. So now Samantha and I talk for a while and I explain the situation and she still don’t really want to work with me and keeps reminded they helped make arrangements on the first tax payment as if that was because I just could not pay when the whole mistake for that was because of JD Byrider. I said ok how about I pay the payment that is due plus I will pay in full the amount you were putting in the $50.00 payments. So this is all around 3:00pm and she says o.k. let me call Jeff in Tallahassee and see what he has to say. CNAC called me so I know that they were aware that they called my work number. At 5:00 I left to go home and around 6:00 I just skipped the middle person I called Jeff in Tallahassee and explained to him what was going on, he at that time said I have been in meetings all day I have not had a chance to speak with her. I expressed that I could not have this car picked up I take my children to school and that if it does turn out that this could not be resolved I would bring the car back so I could get my items out. He said that he would get in touch with her and call me back. About 7:15 I called back to Tallahassee and an older man answered and said Jeff was on the other line so I said that I would wait, after waiting awhile I hung up and thought that this was late maybe this would just needed to be resolved in the morning. When I got up me and my children were on our way to the car and saw the skid marks where they had dragged the car out of the spot. Now it’s really WOW!
I called a cab and when I got to work there was a message from 6:10 the night before, from Samantha to call her back and so at 9:00 I got a hold of her and she said Mrs. Bowen I spoke with Jeff and he said just pay the $203.00 that is the payment and the $50.00 they were adding to the payments. I said o.k. but the car was picked-up last night. She was shocked she asked me if I was sure and out me on hold. When she came back she said I am sorry Mrs. Bowen this is a whole new situation and what do you want to do now?? I said well I want my car back and she said let me call you back she needed to speak to Jeff. She called me back and now she felt that it would cost me too much money to get the car back and felt that this loan needed to be ended again. So here I am at work no way to pick up my kids and no way home and she says that I can not have the car back. So she went back and forth about three different times I can and then I can’t. Now we are at about 6:00pm at night and she says call the local police department to see if it was picked up because I have no record and I will call the person who handles our repossessions. I called her back minutes later and said yes it was gave her the time and all the information the police department had and she said “Mrs. Bowen I feel that this loan should be ended.” So I told her I have to have a car. She said o.k. let me call and find out the repo charges and I will call you back, she called back and said it was $275.00 for the repossession. I asked her if I could make the payment and let them keep the car and pay the repossession fee later. She did not like that and we were back to she felt this loan should be ended again. I said that I could pay rent next week and pay the repression fees to get the car back that we are a family of five and live basically week to week and oh my gosh, she took that to the fullest. She said by the time you pay your bills with your income you have X amount of dollars left each week. Well we have three kids and you can’t put on paper what they will cost and anyway you can’t divide our extra money and say each week this is what is left. The first of the month is the tightest week in our home with daycare and rent being due at the same time. She now kept repeating you said you live week to week I don’t want you to have to get into your rent and get all your bills behind. I kept trying to tell her just as in any average family when things come up you sometimes have to rearrange your bills, we can catch that next week when our bill load is lighter. She said Mrs. Bowen it is my final decision that this agreement is terminated. Is there anything else I can do for you because we have been on this phone for awhile now and both of our time is being wasted I have made my decision. Now Mrs. Bowen is there any thing else I can do for you? So I felt great knowing that I wasted her time and now my family has no way of transportation when on 9-1-05 I offered to come in right away and resolve this, now I wasted her time.
I just wanted to let you my experience with JD Buyrider, now I have to pay to get my things including my car seat out of this car and have $47.00 in gas in a car I don’t have.
