Manufacturer and model data

Hi everyone, it's my first post so please let me know if it's in the wrong place.

I'm a web developer, setting up a UK used vehicle listings website for a client. We need a list of manufacturers and models for cars, vans, commercial vehicles and motorcycles (separately) and have only found one supplier so far.

Our last resort is manual entry into our database from various sources, but if there are suppliers out there for this, that'd be much better, assuming the price is reasonable.

Can anyone point us in the right direction?

Yes, It is nice to know that you are gonna make a list of the Auto dealers and all.

I would suggest you the procedure. First make a website with a directory submission/ add your auto website option there, and Program a web page application like where people can come and fill out their information and that information should be sent to the database you must have at the back end. and then You can moderate this submission, If you will feel Ok and relevant you can allow and results will be displayed in the list and the selected category by the company submitting this information.

This is the procedure You might know about, Second thing comes how to make more people to come to your directory lists and add their companies, Let me tell you, You can not grab people until you have proper SEO services for this, SEO means to make your website high in the search engine, once your website starts coming in the top results people will come and add websites there.

Otherwise it is hard to go to every supplier and all, to get them into your list, rather do seo of your company and people will come proactively to your website to add themselves.
