Just how long can and will General Motors continue their employee pricing for everyone. If they are clearly only making sales and not so much money then why do they continue this incredible sale. Is this sale good for the 2006 models as well as the 2005 models. What is the average opinion out there? Please reply if you have something to ad or something to say.
Thanks,

Andrew - The latest I've heard (and this is after GM went back and forth on this a few times) is that the sale will be extended until Labor Day. In fact, here's an article from the Detroit News: http://www.detnews.com/2005/autosinsider/0508/02/01-267284.htm
I believe one of their goals for this "employee" sale was to reduce inventory in preparation for the 2006 models. It has been a success, as far as that goes.
Apparently, GM is also planning on LOWERING prices on 30 of its 76 models in 2006. By lowering prices and reducing incentives, GM hopes to "wean" consumers off the incentive thing.
Anyone else have some thoughts?
I would not deal with GM. I contacted them about an invention that would stop them from firing 25,000 employees and they could hire another 25,000. GM was only interested if I gave them my patent. I am looking for US car maker or car seat maker to market this invention. So far no one is interested. They would rather fire American workers and take all the work to China or another country outside the USA. While the CEO and stock holders give themselves raises and fire, thousands. Yet, Toyota, Hunda can build state of the art manufacturing plants and GM still has there out dated plants while the CEO makes millions and company goes out of business. Buy an AMERICAN CAR MADE HERE BUY TOYOTA, OR HUNDA, HONDA. THERE CEO'S DO NOT MAKE A MILLION AND YET THEY PAY THEIR EMPLOYEES UNION WAGES, AND FULL BENEFITS. THE AMERICAN CEO'S ARE GREEDY SOB AND THEY ALL SHOULD BE FIRED WITH NO BENEFITS JUST LIKE THEY HAVE DONE TO THOUSAND SO THEY CAN LINE THEIR OWN GREEDY POCKETS.

I think you're exactly correct. Sept 6th will be the end of this deal for the '05s. They may keep it on a few cars/trucks that wouldn't otherwise move -- but I see this as an effective way to run and end o' the year sale.
It does make me wonder about the legality, effectively dropping the MSRP on every car.
