Hello fellow auto people.

Exxon Mobil Disputes Role of Fossil Fuel on Global Warming

Situation
BP PLC and Royal Dutch/Shell Group trumpeting better-safe-than-sorry approach to global warming
Accept growing scientific consensus that fossil fuels are main contributor and endorse 1997 Kyoto Protocol
Kyoto Protocol caps emissions from developed nations that have ratified it
Oil companies have made relatively small investments in alternatives to fossil fuels
Solar profitable for BP but not Shell, wind profitable for Shell but not BP

Significant Points
Exxon Mobil Corp has made no renewable energy research or production commitment
Openly and unapologetically, Exxon disputes notion that fossil fuels are main cause of global warming
Both Bush administration and Exxon oppose Kyoto accord and very idea of capping global-warming emissions
Exxon says costs of cap considered by Congress would be huge and benefits uncertain
Green Peace protestors call Exxon CEO Raymond "No. 1 climate criminal"

This is exactly like the cigaret companies saying it doesnt lead to cancer. its about time proper proof was found and lawsuites made.

Scott -

Very interesting post you made. For me personally, I am not sure I want to have children, as these are the sorts of problems they'll be facing.

I think the world has started to slowly wake up and realize the damage we're doing to ourselves and our planet, but it will take gigantic changes over a long period of time before anything significant happens. However, big changes are made up of many, many small steps. Now is the time to begin!
