Hi:
I'm a tall guy and I like to tilt the steering wheel to various angle settings during long trips, for maximum comfort. But I do so at my own risk. Why? because the wheel, in certain positions, obstructs my view of the turn signal indicators. So they stay on, and I go on driving while not realizing it . But the oncoming traffic thinks I'm gonna turn left, for example. So if they are turning left too, and I go straight....well you guessed it.....there's trouble in River City....
What make vehicle am I talking about? If you name only the make I drive, it would surprise me because I think the problem can be found on many makes of car.
The solution: Manufacturers, please get the darn things up where we can always see them. Maybe in a heads up display on the lower windshield.

Best regards,
Rusty

Interesting problem - one I wouldn't have thought of myself!

Is the turn signal noise too quiet for you to hear? I've seen people drive for miles with their turn signals on, and I never could understand how they weren't able to hear the noise. I suppose some makes are quieter than others, and some have more in-cabin noise.

Out of curiosity - if you want to divulge this information - what make do you drive?

Rusty,

If it an issue of not being able to see OR HEAR the indicator, I suggest you find a good electrical shop that could install a remotely located LED, somewhere that the steering wheel won't block your vision. Some aftermarket alarm systems use those LEDs. I do NOT recommend the use of an incandesent (Sp?) bulb due to some vehicles using sensors to detect turn signal circuit problems.

Hi Jaime:
It's nice to see such enthusiasm for our field of cars. Your positive outlook is sure to serve you well.
Thanks for your suggestions about my input on turn signal indicators that can't be seen when the steering wheel is in certain positions. When I re-read my input I saw that it looked like I was asking for a solution. But actually I was hoping a manufacturing rep would see it, and recognize the need for a change in the interest of safety.
Anyway thanks again for taking the time to respond.
Best regards,
Rusty
